MISSION Our mission is to prepare talented students around the world for successful careers as creative professionals in the fields of art, design, entrepreneurship, and innovation. We achieve this mission by cultivating students’ artistic, academic, and professional skills and knowledge while enriching their learning experience through meaningful community engagement, exciting campus activities, and participation in the global arts community. Santa Fe University of Art and Design provides extraordinary spaces to create, where exceptional teachers and practicing artists inspire, challenge, and mentor their students as they develop their creative and professional identities. Here are some of the other ways we support artists, creators and the wider community: FOSTERING FILMMAKERS As one of the few U.S. university campuses with a professional film studio, Garson Studios, Santa Fe University of Art and Design offers up-and-coming local filmmakers access to a state-of-the-art film theater, three soundstages, and production offices. Garson Studios has also been used for a variety of film productions such as Longmire, True Grit, and No Country for Old Men. COMMUNITY FOCUS DAY In 2011 we created a commUNITY Focus day, designed to strengthen a sense of social responsibility among our students and faculty. We join up with many nonprofit organizations around Santa Fe, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and other local organizations, to lend our hours and passion to their causes. Find out about this year’s commUNITY Focus day, and how you can join in. SPONSORING THE ARTS We’re passionate about sponsoring art exhibits and events, such as the Santa Fe Film Festival. Our on-campus cinematheque, The Screen, is an important venue for the Festival. We also host Santa Fe artists at the Marion Center and in our Fine Arts gallery often throughout the semester. SUPPORTING YOUNG ARTISTS To encourage the next generation of creative professionals, we provide access to facilities and resources. That includes space for a Monte del Sol Charter School fundraiser, Santa Fe Art Institute summer camps and after-school programs, and the SITE Santa Fe Young Curators exhibition.
