Abbey School - Ciao Italy

Abbey School - Ciao Italy was born from the multicultural experience and professionalism of the staff of Abbey School, which has represented an excellent centre in the field of language teaching in Turin since 1996.

The school, which specialises in teaching the Italian language and culture to foreigners, guarantees its students the highest possible standards of language learning. The institution is a member of the ASILS, the AIL and Eduitalia, and has also been recognised by CSN Lund-Sweden. Moreover, the school is also a centre for the provision of Bildungsurlaub courses, and since 2012 it has been running a Master in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language and as a Second Language.

The school's decision to work with only small groups ensures that each participant has the opportunity to develop and improve his/her linguistic skills. Access to each course, therefore, requires an entrance exam in order to form classes of a suitable level for all participants.

Lessons are entrusted to qualified and dynamic native-speaking teachers who, through a direct method and the use of a wide variety of didactic materials (books, newspapers, CDs, film footage, music, etc.), help their students to enhance their communicative and cultural skills. The numerous recreational activities organized by the school, in collaboration with the professionals of the area, allow the student to get into contact with the local people and to get to know the cultural and artistic richness of the city and the province. The Abbey Cards offer, moreover, privileges to their holders, allowing them to enjoy various discounted services (from restaurants to gymnasiums) offered by participating corporations.

Responsive to the growing demand for courses by Asian students, abbeySCHOOL CiaoItaly has prepared programmes based on teaching methodologies which take into consideration the phonetic and syntactic diversity of non-European languages. In order to help the students, the school also provides staff who are familiar with some of the main Asian languages.

For students who have a love of food, special programmes for the discovery of Piedmontese cuisine and culinary specialities can be arranged.
