ESRA is a French Film School, created in 1972, it is the only private school entitled by the French government to issue and deliver a State degree (French bachelor). ESRA mixes theoretical and practical instruction equally in a program that proved its efficiency throughout the years. 6000 alumni are now working in the field of Cinema and Television. Since 2007, ESRA has been offering its graduate students an optional fourth year of studies in New York City, during which they take a 12-week program and shoot a short movie, in collaboration with a New York partner school. Our summer programs offer eligible students from all the world the opportunity to engage in challenging academic work in the company of peers who share their exceptional abilities and love of learning. All faculty at ESRA are recognized teachers and working professionals. Our focus is on rigorous academics and learning but also on the social experience that results from bringing international students together.

ESRA: Under-graduate School of Audiovisual Creation

A Three-year program in cinema and audiovisual: Directing for Film, Directing for TV, Directing for TV Series, Production, Editing, and Image (Cinematography).

ISTS: Under-graduate School of Sound technics

A Three-year program for careers in Sound: studio sound, sound for the screen, Live events and Radio.

SUP’INFOGRAPH: Under-graduate school for 3D Animation films.

A three-year program for careers in 3d animation films: Directing and animation, lighting and rendering, and post-production. NEW YORK: Graduate ESRA, ISTS, and SUP’INFOGRAPH students can choose to follow an optional 4th year in New York City. This program contains theoretical and practical courses, productions and internships. Also, 1st and 2nd-year students can follow a summer program in New York City during the month of July.

Continuing Education:

In Paris, Nice, Rennes, and Bruxelles, ESRA Continuing education offers to all adults seeking a change of careers, programs from one week to eight months in different fields: Audiovisual directing, Audiovisual technician, sound technician, HD shooting, digital photography, software certifications (Apple and avid certified center).

ESRA JUNIORS

ESRA Offers introductory programs for French high school students from 5 days to a month in Screenwriting, film analysis, Sound, directing and editing. They take place in February, April, and July in every school: Paris, Nice, Rennes, Bruxelles and also in Cannes during the International Film Festival in May.

ESRA INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS :

Since 2016 ESRA International offers a one-year filmmaking program for foreign students in English in Paris. Also since 2016 ESRA International offers 2 to 4 weeks summer programs for foreign students in Filmmaking in English in Paris, Nice and Bruxelles.

OBJECTIVES The Hautes Etudes Cinematic Scenario aims to train professionals capable of meeting the expectations of the program industries on all issues that affect the writing of content. During their two years of training, students learn to scénariser any type of work or audiovisual genre, whether it is film (fiction and documentary), television or media in their various formats and content specific.

At the end of their studies, students are finalizing a 90-minute fiction scenario. This work is the subject of an educational follow throughout the year and gives rise to a defense.

This program introduces students to directing, shooting, and editing a short movie (3 to 5 minutes long). Students learn to write their scripts, how to use digital filmmaking equipment during workshop sessions and go into production. It introduces students to every step from the creative idea to the finalization of a short movie project. During the first two weeks of the program, courses cover the theoretical approach of storytelling and narrative structure, visual grammar, light, and image and students develop their own script during workshop sessions. During the last two weeks of the program, students direct, shoot and edit a three to the five-minute short movie. This program features lectures, screenings, and discussion of classic movies, practical workshops, and field experience. The program lasts 4 weeks and can be divided into two parts of 2 weeks that can be taken individually during the month of July.It is available in Paris and Nice in France and in Brussels Belgium. ...
