Introduction
Western Texas College’s Criminal (WTC) Justice program prepares students for professional and research careers in criminal justice, criminology, and related fields emphasizing criminal forensics. Students in the program can accomplish this goal by applying multidisciplinary and comparative social science to understand, predict, and explain crime and contribute to public policy development within urban communities.
Students utilize Project-Based Learning (PBL) as an active learning method to enhance their studies at WTC. Using a hands-on approach, students gain knowledge and skills by investigating and responding to a tangible, engaging, complex question, problem, or challenge. With PBL, the program seeks to develop its students intellectually and ethically while providing them with a keen appreciation for the complexities of crime and public and private efforts to make communities safer and ensure justice.
