Introduction
If you have a background in graphic design, photo and video editing, broadcasting, or animation, the Visual Effects and Editing for Contemporary Media program will give you the skills for a career as a specialized post-production professional. Prepare for a career in advanced post-production, in areas of film or video editing, visual effects, compositing, animation, and motion graphics.
Your Learning Experience
The Visual Effects and Editing for Contemporary Media program is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program designed to prepare creative and disciplined students for a career in the Post Production industry. Students will improve their post-production knowledge and skills through individual and group assignments, practical instruction, independent learning, tutorials, and research. The program includes an opportunity for client services, an internship within the post industry across Canada, as well as self-directed portfolio projects.
During this post-graduate certificate program, you will learn the theory of digital technology and become proficient in using software for video editing, audio editing, motion graphics, 3D animation, compositing and visual effects. You’ll emerge from the program with the technical skills, knowledge, and practical tools for a career in advanced post-production.
Apply your knowledge, get practical experience, and make business connections through an internship within the post-production industry. As well, your portfolio will be expanded and developed throughout the program so you’ll graduate with a professional demo reel to show potential employers your creativity and innovation.
Pathway Opportunities
For students interested in studying further, Brock University and Fanshawe College have developed an articulation agreement, which gives you the opportunity to obtain a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies, as well as a graduate certificate in Visual Effects and Editing for Contemporary Media. Students may start at either institution and receive credit transfer, graduating with both a degree and graduate certificate in only four years.
