Introduction
Learning by doing is the principle behind the three-year courses of Raffles Milano, a training course that structures the mind, provides a solid technical background and makes you want to broaden your horizons of life.
Course leader: Maria Canella, Fashion historian
PhD in History of European Society, since 2009 he has taught "History of Fashion" and "Contemporary History" at the University of Milan; since 2013 she is an associate professor. From 2004 to 2014 she was ANVUR reviewer for issues related to the history of costume and fashion, the history of sport, the history of women. In addition to the history of costume and fashion, she is an expert in the history of the city and the territory. President of the cultural association Memoria & Progetto, she is curator of editorial series, conferences and exhibitions, author of volumes and essays in magazines, she has collaborated with many brands for the management of archives and the enhancement of cultural heritage, including: Rinascente, Missoni, Fiorucci, Ferragamo, Curiel, Giorgio Correggiari, Biki, Jole Veneziani, Germana Marucelli, Italo Sport, Sergio Tacchini, Andrea Pfister, Calzoleria Rivolta, Sutor Mantellassi, Barbara Vitti, Walter Albini, Alberto Lattuada.
Because?
The fashion system is a vast, articulated, even unpredictable territory, in which the sense of the classic manages to meet the most extreme experimentation. There are no recipes to emerge. There is a predisposition to work, the desire to know and measure oneself with the outside world and its thousands of cultures: high, pop, ethno ... There is a keen eye - which must be trained - capable of grasping the smallest detail. An eye that knows traditional tailoring methods but is not afraid to propose irreverent elegance.
Student of the year
At the end of each academic year Raffles Milano awards the best talent of each year of the course.
The recognition is given to the student who, for academic career and portfolio, has distinguished himself in the evaluation of both a commission of internal teachers and that of a commission of external professionals, called in this case to judge a portfolio guaranteed by anonymity.
Professors
They are established professionals, authors of projects that have left their mark, and with long years of teaching behind them. They have an open and decidedly international outlook. They are part of a cohesive and fertile group, and they enjoy comparing the progress of the courses, the opportunities that arise in the race and the performance of individual students.
Companies
In almost thirty years of activity, Raffles Group has built a solid network of partners who collaborate in the Three-year Courses and in the Masters. The reputation of the companies and the quality of the relationships developed are the guarantee of a decidedly fertile encounter between the education and business worlds.
