Introduction
Students will be educated in rapid design skills such as typography, illustration, photography, digital media software, advertising/promotion and moving image. Students work with both traditional and modern techniques and technologies. Traditional, studio-based techniques such as drawing, darkroom photography, photo-montage and printmaking are delivered to develop raw visual communication skills. Alongside this, students are taught on industry-standard Apple Mac computers by highly skilled professionals. Students also learn to use software such as Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
Entry is by interview (informal). Candidates will need either a minimum of four GCSE's Grade C/4 or above, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification. One of these must be in either English or Maths - or both. Applicants will have the opportunity to discuss the course content and requirements during their interview and provide a portfolio of work demonstrating their creative ability (this includes sketchbooks and coursework form school). Applicants will need to be able to be motivated, manage their own time and have a mature outlook.
