Foundation Year Programs in Humanities Studies in Italy

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice's School for International Education offers a university preparatory year program for international students called the Foundation Year. -

The Foundation Year is a nine-month, full immersion preparatory course in Italian for international students willing to enroll in a BA taught in Italian at #UNIPAVIA. The Foundation Year is aimed at students who do not meet the minimum requirement – 12 years of schooling – to access the Italian higher education system. -

The Foundation Course is a study program, taught in English and primarily aimed at candidates who do not possess the minimum schooling requirements outlined in current legislation for enrolment at Italian universities. Attendance of the Foundation Course is mandatory and students must accumulate all the credits provided by the course in order to obtain the final qualification. The modules available within the Foundation Course are taught in English and a certificate of knowledge of the English language at a B2 level is required. -

Having reached its fourth edition, the University for Foreigners of Siena has launched a one-year preparatory educational program named “Foundation Year” as recommended by the General Directorate for Higher Education Inclusion and Right to Study of the Italian Ministry for Universities and Research. Such a preparatory course aims at representing an ideal bridge in order to facilitate students with different educational backgrounds who wish to enroll in Italian Universities and Academies. The Foundation Year aims at offering students a solid preparation in Linguistics, Pedagogy, Philology and Literature, History, and Art Studies. Taking into consideration learners’ prospective studies, specific study programs based on macro-disciplinary contents might be additionally planned and implemented. -
