Introduction
Students who choose the Accounting Diploma will learn skills for jobs such as journal entry, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other entry-level accounting positions. Program graduates receive an Accounting Diploma.
NGTC’s diploma and degree accounting programs prepare students for success in today’s technology-driven workplace. Experienced instructors teach accounting principles and the production of financial records using various methods, including spreadsheets and database management systems. Students also learn to use leading desktop accounting and professional tax preparation software. Graduates are eligible for various careers, including bookkeeper, payroll or accounting clerk, tax preparer, or financial clerk.
Accounting classes are offered both days and evenings. They are offered online or broadcast to the other campuses using the virtual classroom option, giving students more flexibility in where they attend class. Instructors will also travel between the campuses to ensure students have access to questions and advisement.
Accounting students and students in other related business programs such as Business Technology, Business Management, and Computer Information Systems may participate in Phi Beta Lambda (PBL). This national organization gives students a chance to contribute to their community and compete with their peers across the state and nation.
