Introduction
Theatre at Northeast Community College is an exciting participation activity. In addition to theatre classes, through a cooperative agreement with the Norfolk Community Theater and the production of an all-college play, students participate in a wide variety of experiences in theater production. After earning an associate of arts degree in two years, students may either put their skills directly to work or transfer into a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year college. A career in the arts takes patience, dedication, and luck. Consider paring theatre with another career interest or concentration to open up more career opportunities.
As a Theatre concentration, you will develop performance and stage production skills. You'll get several opportunities to participate in theatre annually (in an acting and/or technical capacity) with the Norfolk Community Theater productions and the all-student College production. Opportunities include acting, stage management, and various crew positions, including lighting, set construction, costume construction, make-up, and props.
