Introduction

The Associate of Arts Louisiana Transfer (AA/LT) degree is designed to provide students with an opportunity to complete the first 60 hours of work toward a baccalaureate degree at a two-year or community college. Students who successfully complete a designated transfer associate degree program are eligible to enter a four-year public university as a junior, with all 60 hours (non-developmental) credits transferring to the receiving four-year university. The AA/LT degree consists of a 39-hour general education block and a 21-hour block of additional coursework. Students who enter a four-year public university with this degree in hand will have met the university’s general education requirements and will be granted upper-division (junior) status. This guarantee applies to those who successfully complete the degree with a grade of “C” or better in each course. In the AA/LT degree program, students can focus upon a business, criminal justice, fine arts, humanities, or social sciences concentration. Upon deciding on a prospective concentration, it is important that students do some research and seek advice from their faculty advisor regarding the program’s prerequisite courses so that they may be completed as a part of the AA/LT degree.

Louisiana State University at Eunice

Louisiana State University Eunice is located just southwest of Eunice along Louisiana Highway 755 on a 196-acre tract of land originally belonging to the Arnold LeDoux family, which donated fifty acres for the establishment of the University campus. The University originally purchased an additional fifty acres and later acquired another 95.83 acres for future expansion. The campus is located in Acadia Parish, near the boundaries of Evangeline and St. Landry Parishes, in a rich and fertile section of Southwest Louisiana referred to as "the tri-parish area."
